Balancing Equations
1.OA.7 1.OA.8
Module 5
Differentiation Activity
Students, in either partners or groups of 3, can use a real balance or the picture of the balance. One student will place a stack of connecting cubes (1-10) on one side of the balance. A second student will do the same on the other side. The third student, or both partners together, figure out what number of cubes is needed to be added to balance the sides. Students can record their equation and repeat.
