Differentiation Activity
Students will use counters to skip count by fives on the hundreds chart. After noticing patterns, they can move on to skip counting starting with other numbers. They can use numeral cards to draw a starting number. If they draw a 6, they will place their first counter on 6, 11,16, etc.

Tens and Ones Place Value

Differentiation Activity
Students will have numeral cards 1-9 and a hundreds chart. The students will start with the tens place and flip over a number. If the 3 was flipped over they will cover a number that has a 3 in the tens place. The next number flipped over will be used in the ones place. The students will place a counter over a number that has that numeral in the ones place. The students alternate who places their counter first and whether the numeral will be in the tens place or ones. When a student has four in a row, they are the winner.

Students will each get a copy of Support 32 Cards. They will shuffle and draw 4 cards without looking. They will then flip them over at the same time and race to put them in order from least to greatest. The winner gets a point. The student who has the most points after five rounds is the winner.

Students will take two different color dice and determine which color is the tens and which is the ones. (Alternatively one dice and the first roll is tens and second is ones.) They record their number on the recording sheet or a white board. The greater number receives one point. The student who has the most points after five rounds is the winner. If you want them to play longer, you can determine a number that they play to.

The group will determine who has the greatest amount and that student will receive a point. The student who has the most points either can earn a point, or they can collect the cards. After a base-ten picture is revealed, the students who have the corresponding numeral and number name place the cards beside the pictures. Those are put aside and the next picture is drawn. The first student to get rid of all their cards is the winner.
